Snippet Saver — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
Snippet Saver is a Chrome extension that saves text and images from web pages into notes. This policy explains what data it handles and where that data goes. In short: your notes stay in your browser, or in your own Google Drive if you turn on sync. The developer never receives them.
What Snippet Saver stores
When you save something, Snippet Saver stores:
- the text or image you selected, and the title and address (URL) of the page it came from;
- the notes, tags and Markdown text you write yourself;
- optionally, a local copy of saved images, so they stay visible if the original link breaks;
- your settings (theme, image copies, right-click menu size, supporter badge).
This data is stored locally in your browser (Chrome's extension storage and IndexedDB). Snippet Saver only reads a page when you ask it to save something from that page, and then only the selected text or the image you chose.
Optional Google Drive sync
If you turn on sync in Settings, you sign in with your Google account and Snippet Saver copies your notes, saved images and settings to the app data folder of your own Google Drive. This is a private folder that only Snippet Saver can access; Snippet Saver cannot see any of your other Drive files. Snippet Saver also reads your Google account's email address, only to show you which account is connected. It is stored in your browser and nowhere else.
The data goes directly between your browser and Google. There is no Snippet Saver server, and the developer has no access to your Drive or your notes. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Snippet Saver's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Other network requests
- Images: to keep a local copy of an image you saved, Snippet Saver downloads it from the website that hosts it, as your browser does when it shows the image.
- Donations: the "Donate with PayPal" button in Settings opens PayPal's website in a new tab. Nothing is sent to PayPal unless you open that link, and Snippet Saver receives nothing from PayPal.
Snippet Saver does not use analytics, advertising, tracking or any third-party scripts.
What the developer does not do
- No personal data or notes are collected by, or sent to, the developer.
- Data is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising, profiling or creditworthiness.
- Data is used only to provide Snippet Saver's features.
Your control over your data
- Edit or delete notes at any time; Settings → Delete all removes every note and saved image from this browser (and from your Drive if sync is on).
- Export your notes as JSON or Markdown from Settings.
- Disconnect Google Drive in Settings. To also remove the synced copy, delete Snippet Saver's hidden app data in Google Drive (Settings → Manage apps → Snippet Saver → Delete hidden app data), and you can revoke its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Uninstalling the extension deletes the data stored in this browser.
Children
Snippet Saver is a general productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the extension's release notes.
